American Roundups - Week ending February 26, 2012

Albany went 2-1 against the Cyclones. Jonathan Donaghey had two assists as the Cyclones beat Albany, 3-2, with Brendon Closs leading the Cyclones with a goal and an assist; Mike Peretti scored two goals and assisted on two others and Mike Hans and Jack Bove both had 1-1-2 as the Cyclones won, 6-2, with Andrew Somerville posting 1-1-2 in the loss - and Closs went for two goals and five assists, Hans wore a hat, Bove had 1-1-2 and Emily Andrews and Tucker Angelopoulos shared the shutout as the Cyclones won, 8-0;


Devin Moore had three assists and Bryce Jacob scored twice as the Avalanche defeated Assabet, 5-2; O'Halloran scored late in the first period as the Red Rangers beat the Blazers, 2-0 (coaches, a goalie for the shutout???); No. 15 scored with 3:49 left to give Assabet a 2-2 tie with the Monarchs, who also beat Pro Ambitions, 3-0 (missing game sheet); the Blazers beat the Monarchs, 5-1, while Assabet defeated the Monarchs, 9-1 (missing game sheets).

Seacoast scored two victories. Henry Reznicek had two goals and two assists, Bryson Bartell wore the hat, Cole Ouellet posted two goals and an assist and Connor Cherry and Tom Steere shared the shutout in a big win over the Crusaders - and Zak Lanoue's second-period goal turned out to be the winner in a 3-2 decision over the Red Rangers;


The Rangers nipped the Advantage, 2-1, while the Advantage and Wizards played to a 3-3 tie (our apologies, but we don't get game sheets from Pilgrim).


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Henry Reznicek, Seacoast


The '00 Warriors went 2-0, the '01 Warriors 2-1 and the Red Rangers 1-0-1. Matt Lucy had a goal and an assist as the '00 Warriors beat the ‘01s, 5-1 -- and Lucy had three assists, six different players scored and Kenny Hodge pitched the shutout in a 6-0 victory over the Advantage; Jack Cronin posted 2-1-3, Dalton McCann had 1-1-2 and Shea Grant and Aidan Kelly shared the shutout as the ‘00s beat the Advantage, 6-0 - and the ‘00s nipped the Crusaders, 1-0; Walsh pitched a shutout and Pastore had 1-1-2 as the Rangers beat Seacoast, 2-0 - and Marino scored the tying goal in the second period as the Rangers played to a 2-2 tie with the Advantage;


In the other game, Anthony Morin scored twice, Andrew Clifford had two assists and Daniel Molloy and Matt Suozzi shared the shutout in Albany's 4-0 victory over Seacoast.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Matt Lucy, '00 Warriors


In the only game, Jack Dempsey (1-1-2) scored the winner in the third period, Victor Otero scored twice and Connor Blanchard had two assists in Assabet's 4-3 victory over the Wizards, who got two goals from Cade Nagahama.

In the East, Gerald Cutone had two goals and two assists during a four-goal third period, William Rinaldi's second goal of the game snapped a 3-3 tie with 7:41 left and Mason Dorr had two assists as the Wizards got by the Warriors, 5-3 - McKennelley with two goals and Driscoll two assists in the loss; Cooke posted 2-1-3 and Giunta lost a shutout on an O'Neil goal with 3:57 left as the Blazers topped the Advantage, 4-1; and the Advantage beat the Wizards, 6-1, and the Warriors beat the Advantage, 6-2, but those games were played at Pilgrim and we don't receive game sheets from that rink.


In the West, the Rangers beat Albany twice and Albany downed the Advantage twice (but we don't have the Pilgrim sheets). Mathew Glover pitced a shutout, Kyle Elliott scored twice and Rowan Bradlee had two assists as the Rangers beat Albany, 3-0 - and Elliott and Matt Zeichick both scored twice and Griffin Masseur had 1-1-2 in a 5-2win.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kyle Elliott, Red Rangers


The Red Rangers, Assabet and the Advantage all won twice. Jonathan Patch and John Beatrice each had two goals and an assist as the Rangers edged Seacoast, 5-4, with Chase LeClerc and Mike Szymanski both clicking for 1-1-2 in the loss - and Beatrice scored twice and Mike Arsenault had two assists in a 3-1 victory over the Cyclones; Kevin Martin wore the hat, Ethan Perry had 1-1-2, Ian Connaughton posted two assists and Cole Wagner and Kyle Harrold lost their combined shutout when Brett Niland scored with 1:22 left in Assabet's 7-1 win over the Monarchs - and Connaughton's third goal of the game, with 2:33 left, turned out to be the winner and Gregg Dennison had two assists in a 5-4 decision over the Cyclones, who got a hat trick from Nathan Glencross and 1-1-2 from Sam Cronin; the Advantage beat the Crusaders, 6-3, and also scored a big win over the Monarchs, but we don't have the Pilgrim game sheets;


Cam Arakelian's late goal turned out to be the winner as the Crusaders edged Seacoast, 2-1; and Glencross scored five goals and Cronin had 1-2-3 as the Cyclones beat the Monarchs, 7-2.

Assabet won both games played. Dane Carter wore the hat and had two assists and Sophie Ensley delivered a goal and two assists in a 5-3 victory over the Avalanche, who got two goals from Ben Muthersbaugh - and Carter scored two goals and assisted on three others and Ensley and Tom Argento each had 2-1-3 in an 8-6 win over the Advantage, who got 2-1-3 apiece from McDonagh and O'Connell.
